HISTORY

The renowned Kanhangad Muslim Yatheemkhana ( Orphanage), situated in Northern part of Kerala, established in 1973 was formally inaugurated by Late.C.Ahmed Kunhi Musliar, then Khazi, Chembarikka, on 14th April 1973. It was started with 14 boys who were orphans and destitutes.

The main object of the Kanhangad Muslim Yatheemkhana is to look after the welfare of orphans and destitutes and to make arrangements for their proper instruction including religious education. It also includes establishing Madrassas, Educational, Technical and Vocational Institutions for these orphans and to uplift them up as ideal citizens of the society.

There were several unemployed youths in and around Kanhangad. Seeing this pathetic phenomenon of unemployed youths due to lack of proper technical skill the need of a technical institution emerged in the year 1975. Among many other projects there was a strong feeling to start a technical training school and that was the beginning moment of the ITC at Kanhangad in 1991.

In 1994 the Orphanage ITC was shifted into new building and inaugurated as labour minister Sri. N RamaKrishnan. Later Name of Orphanage ITC changed to Orphanage Private ITI with the central govt order.
